First: General Objectives for the Intermediate Level

By the end of this level, the learner is expected to be able to:

Understand medium-length Arabic texts (stories, articles, daily dialogues, simple news reports).

Use correct grammatical and morphological structures in both speech and writing (such as: the five verbs, the accusative of purpose, the absolute object, conditional sentences...).

Expand the vocabulary to about 2000-2500 common words used in daily life, study, and work.

Communicate fluently with native Arabic speakers in everyday situations (shopping, traveling, work, study...).

Write short paragraphs and texts expressing opinions, positions, or news, using appropriate linking tools.

Improve listening skills and understand simplified standard Arabic dialects (in news broadcasts, dialogues, educational clips).

📚 Second: Main Contents of the Intermediate Level


1. Vocabulary and Expressions

  • Vocabulary related to: daily life, work and study, health, technology, environment, culture, travel.
  • Common expressions in conversation: agreement, disagreement, comparison, expressing opinions, asking for help, apologizing.

2. Grammar and Morphology

  • Nominal and verbal sentences (compound and complex).
  • The five verbs.
  • The objects (direct object, prepositional object, accusative of purpose, with, along with, etc.).
  • Conditional sentences and their rules.
  • The adverbial case and distinction.
  • Verbal nouns (e.g., agent nouns, passive nouns, descriptive nouns).
  • Negative, interrogative, and emphatic sentences.
  • Exception cases (e.g., the noun prohibited from being declined).
  • Derived words (active participles, passive participles, adjectives).

3. Reading and Comprehension

  • Reading medium-length texts (150-250 words).
  • Extracting the main idea and supporting details.
  • Understanding meaning from context.
  • Summarizing texts in the learner's own words.

4. Writing

  • Writing 6-10 sentence paragraphs on familiar topics.
  • Using linking devices (because, but, then, therefore, although...).
  • Writing short letters, emails, or simple stories.

5. Listening

  • Understanding natural conversations between native speakers in everyday topics.
  • Identifying the main idea and important details.
  • Taking simple notes from audio clips.

6. Speaking

  • Confidently speaking about familiar topics (family, work, hobbies, education...).
  • Describing people, places, and events.
  • Expressing opinions and emotions clearly and accurately.

7. Arabic Culture

  • Learning about the customs and traditions of different Arab countries.
  • Becoming familiar with famous Arabic literary and historical figures.
  • Exploring examples of simplified Arabic literature (poetry, stories, proverbs).
